BAT Global Graduate Programme in Bangladesh: What Is Published and What Is Not

বাংলাদেশে BAT Global Graduate Programme খুঁজলে বেশিরভাগ সময় এমন job board page পাওয়া যায় যেখানে কয়েক বছর আগে বন্ধ হয়ে যাওয়া circular এর জন্যও এখনও "apply now" লেখা থাকে। আমরা 6 October 2026 তারিখে BAT এর নিজস্ব careers site যাচাই করেছি। সেখানে বাংলাদেশে 11টি job তালিকাভুক্ত ছিল এবং এর কোনোটিই Global Graduate role নয়। তবে programme টি এখনও চালু আছে। BAT Bangladesh এর careers page এ এটিকে তাদের global management trainee program হিসেবে বর্ণনা করা হয়েছে এবং Annual Report 2025 এ এটিকে future leadership এর জন্য একটি key pipeline বলা হয়েছে। এই guide এ programme সম্পর্কে BAT যা প্রকাশ করেছে, বাংলাদেশের আগের circular গুলোতে কী চাওয়া হয়েছিল এবং কী কখনও প্রকাশ করা হয়নি, সেগুলো তুলে ধরা হয়েছে।

The programme at a glance

What the 18 months look like

Structure টি সহজভাবে বোঝানো যায়। BAT বলছে programme টি 18 months এবং প্রতি six months পর আপনাকে নতুন team এ move করতে হবে, তবে আপনি যে function এ hired হয়েছেন সেই function এর মধ্যেই। অর্থাৎ Marketing graduate Marketing এই থাকবে এবং Operations graduate Operations এই থাকবে। এটি এমন programme নয় যেখানে আপনাকে এক department থেকে আরেক department এ ঘুরে কাজ করতে হবে। তবে Bangladesh এর 2023 Marketing circular এ বিষয়টি কিছুটা ভিন্নভাবে বলা হয়েছিল। সেখানে প্রথমে প্রায় এক বছর trade stint এবং পরে অন্যান্য sub functions এ attachments এর কথা বলা হয়েছিল।

The circulars add detail that the global page leaves out. The Marketing circular promised a "strategic stretch project", a "dedicated Coach & Mentor" and work on global projects across markets. The Operations circular described one core role in a sub function such as Manufacturing, Procurement or Supply Network Operation, plus attachments to others. Both name the BAT Grad Academy, where Global Graduates from different countries meet. BAT's early careers page describes that academy as a two week course in the first year, with a week of classroom training and a business simulation.

What happens at the end is stated in one line. BAT Bangladesh says fresh graduates can become "a management professional within 18 months, upon successful completion of their tenure". The circulars say the programme "prepares you for a management role in just 18 months". Neither sentence names the grade you are confirmed in, and neither says what share of a cohort completes the programme.

What BAT Bangladesh has asked for

These are the Bangladesh circulars we could read in full, with the wording they used.

এই circular গুলোতে কী নেই, সেটিও লক্ষ্য করুন। আমরা যে circular গুলো পড়েছি তার কোনোটিতেই minimum CGPA, preferred universities এর তালিকা, age limit বা number of posts উল্লেখ নেই। তারা যে filter এর কথা বলেছে সেটি ভিন্ন। সেখানে extra curricular activities এর মাধ্যমে প্রমাণিত leadership এর পাশাপাশি interpersonal, team building এবং negotiation skills চাওয়া হয়েছে। আপনার CV তে যদি শুধু results আর course names থাকে, তাহলে circular এ যা চাওয়া হয়েছে তার উত্তর সেখানে পাওয়া যাবে না।

One line in BAT's global FAQ matters to final year students. Asked whether you can apply before your qualification is formally awarded, BAT answers "Yes", and says it will need "official confirmation of your results as part of our onboarding checks before your start date".

Is a call open now?

আজ Bangladesh এর জন্য কোনো Global Graduate call open নেই। BAT এর careers site এর পুরোনো posting links এ গেলে page not found error দেখা যায় এবং BAT এর application portal এ Human Resources posting এ application deadline passed হয়েছে বলে message দেখায়। আমরা Marketing circular এর পর Bangladesh এর জন্য 15 April 2023 এর পরে dated কোনো Global Graduate circular ও খুঁজে পাইনি। এর অর্থ এই নয় যে এরপর BAT কাউকে hire করেনি। এর অর্থ হলো পরবর্তী call থাকলেও তার এমন কোনো public record আমরা verify করতে পারিনি। তাই নির্দিষ্ট কোনো season ধরে planning করবেন না। BAT এর নিজস্ব FAQ বলছে location অনুযায়ী তাদের programmes বছরের বিভিন্ন সময়ে শুরু হতে পারে।

BAT's site has also carried "Expression of Interest" pages for Global Graduate roles in Bangladesh, in Operations, Leaf Operations and Marketing and Commercial. Those addresses return a page not found error today. An expression of interest is a standing page for collecting profiles, not a dated call, so if one reappears, read it for a deadline before you assume a cycle has opened.

Selection and salary: what is not published

Bangladesh এর জন্য BAT selection stages আলাদাভাবে প্রকাশ করেনি এবং salary ও প্রকাশ করেনি। Circular গুলোতে শুধু "Competitive Salary + excellent benefits + market leading bonus" বলা হয়েছে। BAT এর global FAQ starting salary এর প্রশ্নের উত্তর দিয়েছে, কিন্তু কোনো figure দেয়নি। এই programme এর salary numbers social media এবং salary websites এ ঘুরে বেড়ায়। এগুলোর কোনোটিই BAT থেকে দেওয়া নয়, তাই আমরা কোনো সংখ্যা দিচ্ছি না।

What BAT does publish is its hiring process for every country. It has a screening phase and a selection phase:

1. Online test. "For some roles", BAT says, candidates take online assessments that "make use of behavioural science".
2. Screening interview. A conversation with a recruiter by phone or Teams.
3. Assessment centre. For Global Graduates, BAT's FAQ says that after the screening phase "you will be invited to one of our assessment centres, which can take place either virtually or in person depending on location", with individual and group activities across the day. Its hiring page adds: "There is nothing technical to prepare".
4. Further interviews. "For some opportunities, additional interviews may be required."

This is a global description. BAT has not said which of these steps Bangladesh uses in a given year, how many candidates reach each one, or how long the process takes. If you are not selected, BAT's FAQ says you can apply again, and suggests using the feedback from the earlier attempt.

Battle of Minds and the other ways in

Students দের জন্য বেশি পরিচিত একটি door হলো Battle of Minds, BAT Bangladesh এর business competition, যা 2004 সাল থেকে হয়ে আসছে। BAT Bangladesh এর careers page বলছে এর মাধ্যমে company তে more than 200 direct hires হয়েছে। 21st edition 28 November 2024 এ শেষ হয়, যেখানে more than 3,700 participants এবং more than 70 universities ছিল, আর Bangladesh University of Professionals এর একটি team জয়ী হয়। BAT কোথাও বলেনি যে winning বা final এ পৌঁছানো আপনাকে Global Graduate Programme এ একটি place নিশ্চিত করবে। এটিকে company এর নজরে আসার একটি উপায় হিসেবে দেখুন, নিশ্চিত কোনো route হিসেবে নয়।

BAT Bangladesh runs three more campus programmes, each aimed at a different year of study.

The intern line is from BAT's global early careers page, not from a Bangladesh document, and "a chance" is all it promises. Still, it is the only place where BAT itself links an earlier programme to a Global Graduate place.

What to do while no call is open

যেহেতু এখন কোনো call open নেই, তাই নিজের profile প্রস্তুত করার কাজটাই বেশি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। Circular গুলোতে extra curricular activities এর মাধ্যমে প্রমাণিত leadership চাওয়া হয়েছে। তাই club position, competition, আপনি যে event চালিয়েছেন বা যে project নেতৃত্ব দিয়েছেন, সেগুলো CV তে থাকা উচিত, সেখানে কী করেছেন এবং তার ফল কী হয়েছে সেটিও উল্লেখ করতে হবে। Operations circular এ এমন engineering students চাওয়া হয়েছিল যারা অন্তত 7th semester complete করেছে। তাই final year engineering students দের graduation এর আগে থেকেই খোঁজা শুরু করা উচিত।

A short checklist:

• Check BAT's own careers site, searched for Bangladesh, every week or two. It is the only place a real call appears.
• Register for BAT's talent community on that site if you want an email when roles are posted.
• Write your leadership evidence down now. Role, what you did, what changed because of it. One line each.
• Decide your function. Past circulars were posted per function, and the rotations stay inside it.
• Keep your documents ready. BAT checks official confirmation of results before the start date.
• If you are in second or third year, look at Xceed and Battle of Minds first. The graduate programme comes later.

দুটি বিষয়ে সতর্ক থাকুন। প্রথমত, job boards পুরোনো BAT circular গুলো page title এ current year দেখিয়ে online রাখে। আমরা 2026 heading এর অধীনে এমন একটি page খুলেছিলাম যার date ছিল June 2022। তাই সবসময় BAT এর নিজস্ব careers site খুলে posting টি সেখানে আছে কি না যাচাই করুন। দ্বিতীয়ত, BAT তাদের own careers site এর মাধ্যমেই applications নেয়। Programme এ ঢোকার shortcut দেওয়ার কথা বলে কাউকে payment করবেন না।

Apply করার আগে আরেকটি বিষয় নিজের কাছে পরিষ্কার করে নিন। BAT একটি tobacco company এবং Global Graduate role হলো সেই business এরই একটি job, তা marketing, operations বা অন্য কোনো function যেটিই হোক। কিছু graduate এতে comfortable, আবার কিছু graduate নন। এটি ব্যক্তিগত সিদ্ধান্ত এবং assessment centre এর আগে এই সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়াই ভালো, offer পাওয়ার পরে নয়।
