Maintenance Manager

About the Role
New Zealand Dairy Products (BD) Limited is looking for an experienced Engineer for the position of Maintenance Manager to lead engineering, maintenance, and utility operations, ensuring maximum equipment reliability and uninterrupted manufacturing. The role is responsible for driving preventive maintenance, engineering projects, cost optimization, and compliance with GMP, HACCP, ISO, and safety standards while leading a high-performing engineering team and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to support operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all engineering, maintenance, and utility operations to ensure maximum equipment availability and operational efficiency.
- Ensure the uninterrupted supply of all plant utilities including boilers, compressors, refrigeration systems, generators, HVAC, water treatment, and electrical distribution.
- Develop preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies and ensure continuous troubleshooting of VFD/servo drives and PLC systems with OEM support to minimize equipment downtime and optimize performance.
- Monitor and manage SAP (PM/MM) modules for maintenance planning, work order management, spare parts inventory, and stock optimization to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.
- Lead engineering projects including capacity expansion, modifications, machinery installation, and commissioning.
- Prepare, manage, and control the annual maintenance budget, engineering expenses, CAPEX, utility costs, and spare parts inventory to achieve cost-effective operations.
- Ensure full compliance with GMP, HACCP, ISO standards, HALAL, FSMS, Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), environmental regulations, and all applicable statutory requirements.
- Lead, coach, and develop the engineering team while fostering a strong safety culture.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement, and other cross-functional departments to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
Educational Requirements
- B.Sc. in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with a strong academic record.
Experience Requirements
- 8–10 years of relevant work experience in engineering and maintenance.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical, automation, PLC, and utility systems.
- Hands-on experience in preventive/predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and utility management.
- Good understanding of GMP, HACCP, ISO, FSMS, HALAL, OH&S, and other statutory compliance.
