Litigation & Corporate Counsel

Job Overview

British American Tobacco Bangladesh is looking for a Litigation & Corporate Counsel to manage litigation, regulatory, compliance, and corporate legal matters across the business. The role will provide legal guidance, support risk management, coordinate with external stakeholders, and ensure effective legal governance within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee litigation, regulatory, compliance, and corporate legal matters across the business.
• Provide timely and practical legal advice to cross-functional teams on various laws and regulations.
• Coordinate with external counsel, regulators, law enforcement agencies, and other external stakeholders.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and assess their impact on business operations.
• Maintain litigation databases, legal trackers, risk registers, and governance processes.
• Lead Anti-Illicit Trade (AIT) initiatives and support enforcement activities to protect business interests and brands.
• Support investigations, regulatory inspections, security incidents, and crisis management situations.
• Drive compliance awareness, training, governance initiatives, and legal control requirements across the organization.

Requirements

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Law with qualification to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience in litigation management, corporate legal advisory, compliance, or regulatory affairs.
• Strong knowledge of litigation processes, corporate laws, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to engage senior business leaders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple complex matters in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment.
• High integrity, sound judgment, resilience, and ability to make balanced risk-based decisions.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
