Amazon employees will be required to work from the office at least three days a week starting next week

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced that the company will require its employees to return to the office at least three days a week starting May 1. Jassy emphasized the importance of in-person collaboration and its positive impact on the company’s culture. However, he acknowledged that bringing thousands of employees back to offices worldwide will be a challenging task, but a necessary one that will drive continuous improvement. Amazon’s housing team will assist with this transition.

Jassy also mentioned that this decision will have a positive impact on the local economy. This move comes amidst the company’s plans to lay off 18,000 workers due to the global economic slowdown. Approximately 6 percent of the company’s corporate workforce of 300,000 employees may be affected by these layoffs.

Like many other companies, Amazon offered employees the opportunity to work from home during the global pandemic.
