System Administrator (Linux/Unix)

Gildan is hiring a System Administrator (Linux/Unix) in Gulshan, Dhaka, reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, to keep its core operating system platforms and file-transfer networks performing, stable and secure. The role includes a rotational on-call schedule.

The Role

  • Provision, configure and maintain RedHat Linux enterprise environments, Oracle Virtual Machine (OVM), VMware and core system hardware
  • Support and optimize enterprise data exchange via SFTP frameworks and HelpSystems GoAnywhere
  • Assist in the administration, patching and technical support of specialized enterprise platforms
  • Enforce security policies, administer user access controls and update SOX compliance documentation
  • Test and deploy system upgrades, software patches and environmental changes
  • Maintain, evaluate and test the system Disaster Recovery (DR) Plan
  • Maintain system documentation, operational procedures and software license inventories

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
  • At least 5 years of proven experience as a Linux/Unix Systems Administrator in an enterprise setting
  • In-depth knowledge of RedHat Linux, Shell scripting (Bash) and enterprise SFTP infrastructure
  • Strong administrative knowledge of OVM (Oracle Virtual Machine) and VMware
  • Experience with HelpSystems GoAnywhere, IBM VIO or AIX environments is highly advantageous
  • Prior experience in a regulated environment such as SOX compliance
  • Willingness to join a rotational on-call schedule supporting 24/7 global operations
