Role Overview
The Direct Tax Manager is responsible for execution of Income Tax Reporting ("Tax Pack") and compliance, and for supporting the Country Tax Manager on tax improvement projects to ensure full compliance with applicable Income Tax legislation.
The role also monitors local legislation and tax practice, assesses their impact on JTI’s corporate income tax computation, and manages transfer pricing (TP) matters including computation and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance
- Prepare all Tax Reporting Packages in line with group policies and timelines.
- Analyze data from SAP and internal stakeholders and accurately reflect it in tax packages.
- Communicate tax payment advice to Treasury in a timely manner.
- Act as custodian of Direct Tax and Withholding Tax notices and prepare responses.
- Assess withholding tax consultation requests from internal stakeholders and communicate conclusions.
- Maintain and monitor tax conditions in NAVS and update when required.
- Communicate with vendors for tax-related documentation needed for withholding tax purposes.
- Execute withholding tax certificates for vendors.
- Plan, communicate, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to prepare documentation for tax assessments and filing of annual corporate income tax returns.
- Maintain effective working relationships with Direct Tax Authorities.
- Analyze withholding tax at GL level and tax codes in POs; recommend corrections to FCG/GIP where necessary.
- Tax Projects & Improvements
- Support the Country Tax Manager on tax-related projects and process improvements.
- Develop functional tax awareness among internal stakeholders.
- Monitor local tax legislation and practice and assess impact on CIT and TP calculations.
- People Management
- Develop direct reports in organizational awareness and effective collaboration.
- Enable the team to support JTI Bangladesh business priorities and compliance objectives.
Who Can Apply
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, preferably Finance or Accounting.
- Partly Qualified Accountant is preferred.
- Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of work experience related to Corporate Income Tax.
- Experience in Tobacco or FMCG is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills
- Deep knowledge of Corporate Income Tax and Transfer Pricing.
- Understanding of IFRS and local statutory financial statements.
- Intermediate (or higher) MS Excel skills.
- Ability to plan and advise on tax planning, risk assessment, and lead improvement projects.
- Language & Communication
- Native Bangla and English professional working proficiency (subject to test).
- Strong external communication and relationship-building skills.
